Can't You Hear That Ticking?

calamansourjah

Starve for attention,

To regain lost control.

Starve to recover,

To once again feel whole.

It’s quiet over here,

You could hear a pin drop.

A loss of innocence lingers,

Affliction comes out on top.

Ribs poke through drained skin,

But it’s simply not enough.

Miss another, and another,

Perfection proves tough.

Drop to my knees,

Make it right for a night.

Empty vessels are safer,

Was it worth the fight?

Head feels weightless,

Yet the doubts are persistent,

Throw another day away,

At least it’s consistent.

Eating seems easy,

‘Til it’s what you’re defying.

"Someone come save me"

Because I’m sick of trying.

Wake up from the nightmare,

You aren’t second best.

Let’s get you back to life,

Darling, it’s time for the rest.
